Iraqi parliamentary elections of 2021 : a study in voting behavior

Abstract

 Voting behavior is one of the general patterns of social behavior, as it follows the same terms, conditions and laws and is related to the activities of the individual’s political behavior, which makes it an individual expression of opinion freely when choosing representatives, despite the differences in the nature and challenges of voting behavior between communities; but its goals remain constant, namely, to achieve the integration of the democratic process from all political, social and economic aspects, and in the case of Iraq in the parliamentary elections after 2003, through the elections of 2005 to the elections of 2021, things have not witnessed major changes, there have been many factors lobbying, which significantly influenced voting behavior The voting behavior of citizens played an important role in showing the results of the elections in a way that reflects the diversity of the components of the Iraqi people ,these results have resulted in more dispersion in the Iraqi political scene, with the emergence of new political forces on the political scene, and therefore this represented a fundamental change in the political process, although that change was of a procedural and superficial nature, but it may serve as opening the doors leading to comprehensive change, and not the surface.
