Dr. Hisham Hikmat Abdulsattar

Prof. Dr. Hisham Hikmat Abdul-Sattar Hussain is a Professor of Political Systems and Public Policy at the College of Political Science, Al-Nahrain University, Iraq. He boasts a distinguished academic and administrative career spanning over two decades, having served as Head of the Political Systems and Public Policy Department, Associate Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Chairman of the Academic Promotions Committee at Al-Nahrain University. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science (Political Systems) from the University of Baghdad (2002) and his Bachelor's degree from Centro Escolar University, Philippines (1989). Prof. Hussain serves as a senior ministerial expert, holding permanent memberships on the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's committees for developing political science curricula and the Ministerial Committee for Democracy and Human Rights. His prolific research output includes several co-authored textbooks in political sociology and public policy, alongside over 23 peer-reviewed papers published in national and international journals, including Scopus-indexed research on sustainable development, human security, federalism, and parliamentary oversight. Furthermore, he sits on the editorial boards of the Political Issues journal and the Journal of the College of Law and Political Science, has supervised 43 postgraduate theses, and participated in 121 examination committees. He also serves as a certified expert and lecturer for prestigious national and international strategic institutions, including the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), the Iraqi Commission of Integrity, and the National Defense College.
