Professor Dr. Khalil Ali Hussein
Professor Khalil Ali Hussein is a Full Professor of International Law and International Relations at the Faculty of Law, Political and Administrative Sciences, Lebanese University, where he also served as the Head of the International Relations Department (2017–2021). Attaining the rank of Full Professor in 2002, he holds a State Doctorate in Public Law (1990), a Diploma in International Humanitarian Law from the Arab League in Cairo, and advanced qualifications in Islamic Studies and Media from the American University of Beirut (AUB).
With a distinguished career spanning decades of scholarly and institutional impact, Professor Hussein served as the Director of Studies and Advisor to the Lebanese Parliament (1993–2008). He has headed prominent intellectual bodies, notably as Director of Documentation at the Center for Arab Unity Studies and Editor-in-Chief of the International Studies and Muqarabāt journals. He has supervised hundreds of Ph.D. dissertations and Master’s theses across regional universities. His extensive bibliography features 37 foundational textbooks and legal encyclopedias—including the Encyclopedia of Public International Law, Encyclopedia of International Organizations, and Geopolitics—alongside nearly a hundred peer-reviewed papers on diplomatic law, constitutional engineering, and international security. He is an active member of the Lebanese Writers Union and the Arab Association for Political Science, and a highly regarded political-legal analyst for prominent regional and international media outlets.
