Professor Dr. Nourhan Al-Sayed Abdel Hamid Al-Sheikh
Prof. Dr. Nourhan El-Sheikh is a Professor of Political Science at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University (since 2010), and currently serves as the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Islamic Universities for Foreign Relations (since May 2023). She holds a distinguished international academic record, including a Ph.D. in Political Science from Cairo University (2000), a Master’s degree in Alternative Development Strategies from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague, Netherlands (1994), and a Diploma in Russian Language from the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute in Moscow (1993). Prof. El-Sheikh has an extensive publication record with 9 authored books and over 100 peer-reviewed research papers specializing in strategic studies, foreign policy, and Russian and Asian political systems. Throughout her tenure at Cairo University, she directed several academic institutions, including the Center for American Studies, the Youth Studies Unit, and the Malaysian Studies Program. On the advisory and international levels, she served as an advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Youth and the President of the National Council for Youth. She is an elected member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, and the expert board at TRENDS Research & Advisory (Abu Dhabi). Additionally, she sits on the editorial and advisory boards of several prestigious journals, including "Democracy" magazine (Al-Ahram) and the Journal of Law and Political Science at Al-Iraqiqa University. She is fluent in Arabic, English, and Russian.
