The results of the Iraqi parliamentary elections 2021 An analytical study

Abstract

The early elections that took place in Iraq on the tenth of October 2021 to elect the members of the House of Representatives are an important event in the history of Iraq, for several reasons, the most important of which was that it came after a great popular uprising (Tishreen uprising), and these elections were one of its outputs, after the resignation of the Adel Abdul -Mahdi government, and the legislation of an electoral law in some of its details, the demands of the protesting youth, and the other important reason represented their results, which surprised most of the political parties.
The adoption of the majority system and multiple constituencies within a single governorate, despite the interference of political parties in drawing electoral constituencies according to their interests and areas of presence of their audience, was a major reason for the results of those elections. This law, for the first time, enabled new forces and independent personalities, with more than forty seats, to reach membership in the House of Representatives, and this is a first step to consolidating the principle of citizenship.
The results of the early parliamentary elections that took place on October 10, 2021 are an expression of the real change in the Iraqi political map, and represents a quantitative and qualitative change that was not in the accounts of most political forces and observers.
