Professor Dr. Nizam Jabbar Talib

Prof. Dr. Nidham Jabbar Talib is a Professor of International Law and the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Al-Qadisiyah, Iraq (serving 2014–2018, and 2023–present). He currently serves as the Chairman of the National Council for the Accreditation of Law School Programs in Iraq (since 2019) and is a key member of the sub-committee for Iraq’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). He earned his Ph.D. in International Law from Bangor University, UK (2013), following his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Law from Al-Nahrain University. Prof. Talib has a robust research record featuring 3 books and over 35 peer-reviewed papers published in prominent national and international legal journals, including the Syracuse Journal of International Law and Commerce. His expertise spans international investment law, international commercial arbitration, and oil and gas contracts. He has supervised over 32 Ph.D. dissertations and Master’s theses, including international co-supervisions with the University of Burgundy (France) and the University of Sfax (Tunisia). Additionally, he is a certified judicial expert at the Diwaniya Court of Appeals and holds over 80 ministerial and institutional awards of appreciation.
