The continent of Asia encompasses several regional systems: East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia, in addition to the Russian Federation in the northeastern part of Asia and Europe. This research focuses on Southeast Asia due to its growing significance as an important unit in the global system. This importance stems from its strategic geographic location, the active role of ASEAN in the global economic system, and the fact that global energy security partially depends on the security of maritime passages in the region, notably the Strait of Malacca and the South China Sea. These factors have turned Southeast Asia into a stage for power competition over influence, primarily involving the United States and China, alongside other regional powers such as Japan, India, and the Russian Federation. This competition has led to the formation of alliances, most of which are aimed at countering China’s expansive influence in the region.
